If you decide to go to Cala Gonone by car, you have got the unique opportunity of exploring not only the sea and the coastline, but also enchanting landscapes in the heart of Sardinia among the emerald Mediterranean shrubland and the fresh countryside, among rocks eroded by rain, trees twisted by the mistral, and ruins of ancient nuraghi. Therefore you should take your time when travelling in Sardinia.

 

From OLBIA

You can reach Cala Gonone taking the SS 131 DCN, a fast four-laned national highway, or following the SS 125 orientale sarda, a slower, two-laned scenic road that will allow you to admire wonderful panoramas, to visit beautiful beaches (San Teodoro, Berchidda, Cala Ginepro, Cala Liberotto) and to appreciate at best the beauties of the coastline. The two roads join in a number of places and give you the opportunity of organizing your journey just as you wish.

SS131DCN : 109 kilometres in 1 hour and 50 minutes
SS125: 112 kilometres in 2 hour

FROM CAGLIARI

 

Starting from Cagliari, you can take the SS131 and the SS131DCN (about 25 kilometres more) as well, or you can choose the SS 125, which leads along the east coast.
Time for the journey:
SS131 and SS131DCN : 222 kilometres in 3 hours and 30 minutes
SS125: 199 kilometres in 3 hours and 30 minutes.



FROM ARBATAX

Starting from the harbour of Arbatax, you can reach Cala Gonone taking the SS 125, one of Italy’s most beautiful scenic routes because of the breathtaking landscape and the incredible scenery between the mountains and the sea.

Time for the journey:SS125: 72.2 kilometres in 1 hour and 17 minutes.

 

FROM PORTO TORRES

Starting from Porto Torres, you take the dual carriageway SS 131, then you turn off the highway and turn into the SS 131 DCN towards Olbia leaving the road in the direction of Dorgali.
Time for the journey:

SS131 and SS131DCN: 180 kilometres in about 3 hours.



FROM ALGHERO

Starting from Alghero, you take the SS127bis, the SS131bis and the SS131, then turn off and turn into the SS129, then into the SS131DCN in the direction of Olbia, and finally take the exit for Dorgali.
Time for the journey:
SS125: 177 kilometres in about 3 hours.
