From ancient times, the small village of Cala Gonone was home to small groups of fishermen from Campania and the Italian islands. The work of the inhabitants was determined by its almost complete isolation from the outside world, sealed to the west by mountains and to the east by sea.
The Aquarium of Cala Gonone was inaugurated on July 10th, 2010. It has got 25 water display tanks and will allow you to explore the sea bottom of the Mediterranean Sea and of the tropical seas as well
Cala Gonone is a small seaside resort of austere, unadulterated coastline extending over 40 km, within the Orosei Gulf. Almost entirely devoid of concrete, its beaches – Cala Luna, Cala Sisine and Cala Mariolu – of various sizes, are among the most beautiful in the Mediterranean, interrupted only by coastal towers and harsh limestone cliffs.
